I’m loving that fall flavours are fitting cafe menus right now, and a Banana Bread Matcha Latte sounds like a dreamy way to ease into cozy season. And because I’m not ready to fully switch into fall mode, I’m holding on to iced lattes for as long as I can. If you love banana bread and you love matcha, you need to try this banana bread iced matcha latte. It’s creamy, lightly sweet, perfectly spiced, and tastes like your favourite cozy banana bread in iced matcha form.
This easy vegan matcha latte comes together in just a few minutes using banana milk, banana, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and matcha. Pour it over ice, and you have a delicious afternoon pick-me-up that feels a little more special than your usual matcha
I made this recipe using the unsweetened banana drink from my Odd Bunch pantry box, and it was the perfect base for creating that banana bread flavour. If you’re looking for other drink inspiration, check out these recipes!

Why You’ll Love This Banana Bread Matcha
It tastes like banana bread. The combination of banana, cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg gives this matcha all the cozy flavours of banana bread.
It’s quick and easy. You only need a handful of ingredients and a few minutes to make it.
It’s completely vegan. Everything is plant-based, making this an easy dairy-free matcha latte.
It’s refreshing. Even though the flavours are cozy, serving it over ice makes it perfect for an afternoon matcha break.
Ingredients
For the banana bread matcha
- 1 cup (250 mL) Kunana Unsweetened Plant Based Banana Drink
- ½ small ripe banana
- ¼ tsp cinnamon
- pinch of nutmeg
- 1-2 tbsp vanilla creamer ( or, ½ tsp vanilla extract + 1 tbsp maple syrup)
- Ice
- 2 tsp matcha powder
- 2-3 oz hot water
Optional toppings
- vegan vanilla cold foam
- sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg
How to Make a Banana Bread Iced Matcha Latte
1. Make the banana bread milk mixture
Add the banana milk, ripe banana, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sweetener of choice to a blender. Blend until completely smooth and creamy.
If your banana is very ripe, you may not need much sweetener, so start with 1 teaspoon and adjust to taste.
2. Prepare the matcha
Add the matcha powder to a small bowl or matcha cup. Pour in the hot water and whisk until smooth and frothy.
Avoid using boiling water for matcha, as very hot water can make it taste more bitter. Hot water that is 160°F to 175°F is ideal.
3. Assemble your iced matcha
Fill a glass with ice and pour in the banana bread milk mixture.
Slowly pour the prepared matcha over the top. This creates a beautiful layered iced matcha that you can stir together before drinking.
4. Add your toppings
For an extra banana bread-inspired drink, top with a little vegan cold foam or whipped cream, or simply a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg.
Give it a stir and enjoy!

Tips for the Best Banana Bread Matcha
Use a ripe banana. A ripe banana gives you more natural sweetness and stronger banana flavour.
Don’t skip the cinnamon and nutmeg. These are what help transform a simple banana matcha into something that actually tastes like banana bread.
Adjust the sweetness. If you’re using sweetened banana milk, you may not need any maple syrup or vanilla creamer. Taste the banana milk mixture before assembling your drink. I personally love adding Silk Vanilla Oat Creamer to all my beverages for a little sweetness.
Use good-quality matcha. Since matcha is one of the main flavours in this drink, using a matcha you enjoy drinking on its own will make a noticeable difference. I love using this matcha.

Can I Make This Without Banana Milk?
Yes! If you don’t have banana milk, you can substitute your favourite unsweetened plant-based milk and use a little more banana to add the banana flavour.
I recommend oat milk, soy milk, or almond milk.
Can I Make This Hot?
Absolutely. Simply skip the ice and warm the banana milk mixture gently before combining it with your prepared matcha.
For an iced drink, I prefer pouring the banana bread milk over ice and adding the matcha on top.
