Biscoff S’mores Hot Chocolate: The Ultimate Winter Indulgence
Winter is here and there is no better way to warm up and escape the winter blues than sipping a nice hot beverage – particularly this Biscoff S’mores Hot Chocolate. Hot chocolate is essential during the winter months and as someone who consumes a lot of this particular drink, I wanted to elevate this classic to a decadent new level. So, I decided to marry a few things that I love to make this epic Biscoff S’mores Hot Chocolate — a creamy, indulgent treat that’s as comforting as it is delicious.
This drink is the perfect blend of nostalgia and luxury. The rich, velvety hot chocolate is infused with the sweet delicious Biscoff cookie butter spread, giving it an irresistible taste. And of course, it wouldn’t be a s’mores-inspired drink without gooey toasted marshmallows, Biscoff cookie crumbs, and a decadent chocolate melted on the rim.
Biscoff S’mores Hot Chocolate: Ingredients You’ll Need
You can certainly use other brands and still make this magical drink! Use any vegan cookie butter you can find and you can even substitute the Biscoff cookies for some graham crackers.
- Cookie Butter (Biscoff Spread): Add a dollop to your hot chocolate to enhance the flavour and sweetness.
- Cocoa Powder: The base of any great hot chocolate. Use cocoa powder or hot chocolate mix (just note that you’ll have to account for it being pre-sweetened.
- Non-Dairy Barista Milk: Use any non-dairy milk but I find the barista blends to add an extra creamy and frothy texture.
- Marshmallow Syrup: A dash is added to the milk to add a sweet marshmallow flavour throughout the drink.
- Biscoff Cookies: Crushed for garnish and extra crunch.
- Marshmallows: Toasted on top for the ultimate s’mores vibe.
Steps to Making the Perfect Biscoff S’mores Hot Chocolate:
Step 1: Melt chocolate. Using the stovetop or microwave, melt chocolate chips and pour on a shallow plate. Place the mug upside down and dip the rim in the melted chocolate. Place in fridge or freezer to cool.
Step 2: Boil water and make hot chocolate. Once boiled add 3/4 cup to a mug with 2 tbsp of cocoa powder.
Step 3: Add marshmallows. Cut halfway through the marshmallow lengthwise and place it on the rim of the mug. Use a culinary torch to lightly toast the marshmallow.
Step 4: Add Cookie Butter. Add a dollop (1 tbsp) of cookie butter to a mug. Add the hot chocolate mixture. And use a handheld whisk to combine.
Step 5: Add non-dairy milk. I add 1/2 cup of non-dairy milk to a frother to 1 tsp of toasted marshmallow syrup but that is optional. You could add your milk and syrup right to the cup if you choose.
How to Serve It
To make this drink truly Instagram-worthy, don’t skimp on the toppings! Run with the s’more concept by adding your chocolate rim, toasted marshmallows, crushed Biscoff cookies, or even a whole s’mores Biscoff cookie like I did (it is incredible for dunking). Serve it in a clear glass mug for maximum visual impact and cozy vibes.
Tip: Try decorating this drink with one of my baked marshmallow flower toppers.
Tips for Perfecting Your S’mores Hot Chocolate
- Use high-quality cocoa powder: This makes a big difference in the richness of your hot chocolate base. Opt for unsweetened cocoa powder to control the sweetness.
- Toast your marshmallows: Use a kitchen torch or your oven’s broiler to get that golden, slightly charred effect for an authentic s’mores vibe.
- Chocolate rim: Heat chocolate and dip your mug for a chocolatey sip or drizzle in the mug.
- Add a pinch of sea salt: Just a tiny sprinkle can elevate the flavours and balance the sweetness of the drink.
- Experiment with milk types: While non-dairy barista milk is a creamy, frothy option, feel free to try oat, almond, or coconut milk for unique flavour profiles.
