6 vegan food spots in Edmonton

Looking for some vegan food while visiting Edmonton? I got you covered. As a perk of having a partner that travels for work I, on occasion, can tag along to help AND scope out all the delicious vegan food spots nearby. I take this job very seriously and try to explore as much as possible, even during a quick weekend trip like this one. During this adventure, I found 6 vegan spots in Edmonton that are worth sharing!

The Virgo that I am, I always have vegan food places mapped out before we even land at our new destination. Anyone else like this? I find that having a little to-do list, or rather a to-eat list, is helpful, especially during a time crunch.

While attending the Edmonton Tattoo Expo, this quick trip meant we were on a time limit and also eating at odd hours. Anyone who has worked at a trade show/convention knows the struggle. Luckily, I was able to find so many great vegan food spots to explore while we visited. We were also able to sneak in a brief trip to the West Edmonton Mall which is an experience in itself!

6 Vegan Spots To Try In Edmonton

  1. Die Pie
  2. Seitans
  3. The Buckingham
  4. kb&co
  5. Cafe Mosaics / The Moth
  6. Remedy * not fully vegan but has vegan options

Bonus: If you’re looking for a cute cafe with non-dairy milk, Bean Around The World should definitely be on your list. This cafe has a dreamy atmosphere, filled with rustic decor, gorgeous plants and most importantly, SWINGS. That’s right, you can sip on your coffee or matcha while swinging away as your inner child explodes with happiness.

6 Chickpea Approved Vegan Food Spots in Edmonton

1. Die Pie – Vegan

This spot is a gem! A vegan pizza haven if you will. Easily one of my top vegan food spots in Edmonton. These sourdough pizzas are fully plant-based, made from scratch and with fresh local ingredients. You can even get your pizza made gluten-free. What made this a favourite of mine was the selection of pizza flavours such as Donair, Big Mack, Pierogi, and many more. I truly wish I had time to try more of them. Of the three I was able to taste-test (Pierogi, Buffalo Chickun Pizza, Tropical Porq Pizza), all were tasty but I have to say that my absolute favourite was the Tropical Porq Pizza.

2. Seitans – Vegan

If you happen to be in the downtown area, you’ll want to stop at Seitans. This vegan food spot is owned by the same folks as Die Pie – so I knew it would be fantastic. With delicious exciting menu options like Kimchi Bites, Donair Poutines, and various Po Boy sandwiches, this place has everything your taste buds could ask for.

3. The Buckingham – Vegan

The Buckingham is a vegan food spot that is perfect for a night out. Between the dance floor, outdoor patio and delicious vegan street food menu, all of which are a recipe for a good time. The menu is full of yummy options including burgers, tacos, wraps/sandwiches, and the Buck’s Fried Chkn.

During my trip I got the Jumbo with Cheese (a donair seitan with all the fixings), the Buck Crunch Wrap (a veganized version of a Taco Bell classic), Fried Chkn Basket (BBQ flavour) and the Deep Fried Oreos for dessert. Again, if I had to pick a favourite it would be a tie between the Jumbo with Cheese and the Buck Crunch Wrap.

As mentioned, this was a work trip and I wasn’t able to sit down and enjoy the atmosphere. This was a late-night delivery order so I did the best I could for the photos.

4. kb&co – Vegan

If you’re looking for a healthier vegan food spot while visiting Edmonton, kb&co is a must! Their extensive menu is full of vibrant and delicious options that will keep you nourished during your visit. With choices like smoothies, bowls, toasts, wraps/sandwiches, and even nachos – this vegan spot has everything to meet your cravings.

This cafe is also super cute for a dine-in experience. Their bright, minimal aesthetic with plants certainly creates a relaxing and welcoming vibe.

During this visit I had the pleasure of trying the Chili Nachos, Cashew Cream Cheese Avocado Toast, Coconut BLT, Chipotle Taco Wrap, Cookies & Cream Protein Smoothie and the Mango-Mojito Smoothie. The Chipotle Taco Wrap, the Chili Nachos and the Coconut BLT were the top food choices. Avocado toast is always good but nothing spectacular to write home about.

5. Cafe Mosaics – Vegan

This Earth-conscious cafe is the perfect vegan food spot in Edmonton to enjoy a yummy meal with fresh whole foods and organic tonic herbs sourced from responsible farms. This menu had me swooning. Despite them having a breakfast menu, I regrettably did not try their vegan eggs benedict. I have some serious remorse about that. That said, I have zero regrets about what I did order. For a quick bite, I tried the Falafel Bowl and the Curry Bowl with a side of Mosaic Chili Plum Wings as a lunch meal.

The Falafel Bowl was incredibly nourishing with its lentil falafel, vegan feta, quinoa, veggies, hummus, and delicious lemon garlic tahini dressing. The Curry Bowl, an unexpected favourite, was incredible, full of veggies and lentils sauteed in a yellow coconut curry sauce topped with a cashew sour cream and chutney. Highly recommend ordering the Curry Bowl.

6. Remedy – Vegan Options

While Remedy Cafe is not an entirely vegan food spot, they do have some solid options on the menu. This spot is an Indian/Pakistani restaurant with multiple locations scattered throughout Edmonton. For breakfast, you can grab a vegan cream cheese bagel or a vegan egg and cheese sandwich. These are typically hard to find so I was happy to see them on the menu. They also have a bunch of gluten-free options available here.

If you’re heading there for lunch or dinner you have a few more yummy options to choose from! They have vegan Aloo Gobi, Chana Masala, Falafel Sabji, and Butter Chicken wraps or you can grab Chana Masala, Butter Chicken, or Dahl served with rice and pita. You really can’t go wrong with any of those options.

Bonus: Cafe

1. Bean Around the World – Vegan Options

Another cute vegan spot that is worth a visit if you’re looking for a caffeine kick is Bean Around the World. While their matcha and coffee were super yummy, I recommend this place because of their vibe. This cafe has swings y’all. Nothing will make your inner child happier than sipping on a warm bevy while swinging as your feet dangle carelessly.

My childhood best friend, heyitsbex, moved to Edmonton many years ago, so of course we had to meet up. This cafe was the perfect spot to catch up, laugh and swing life away.

I think one of my favourite parts of travelling is trying different foods and restaurants. Edmonton has so many delicious vegan food spots to try, so if you’re eating plant-based, you won’t have a problem finding good food. I wasn’t able to try all of the spots I wanted to – but I guess that means I need to go back. If you try any of these 6 vegan spots, I’d love to know what you think! I hope you enjoy everything as much as I did.
